For those looking to delve deeper into the history and mystery of Buenos Aires, a trip around town in a comfortable mini-van or on foot with the Eternautas’ staff is an unbeatable experience. Staffed entirely by professors and graduate students from the respected Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), among Eternautas’ tour guides are pundits in architecture, literature, history, anthropology, and about anything else you are interested in. Very friendly, highly informed, and multi-lingual, the guides have a knack for transforming seemingly mundane or unimportant sights into fascinating experiences. A long line-up of established tours include deeper examinations of the typical tourist sights. More unconventional trips provide themed excursions on Evita and Peronism, BA’s Jewish community, literature, the industrial south, and the city’s markets. Trips outside the city include Tigre and the river delta, La Plata, and nearby estancias, while specialized tours can be arranged in advance for people with specific interests. While you can expect to pay more than with other tour companies, Eternautas’ quality makes it a great value.
