Villa Paranacito

Villa Paranacito is set deep in the southeast corner of the Entre Rios region of Argentina. It serves as the administrative center to the collection of Ibicuy islands. European colonists, mainly from central and Eastern Europe, founded the village on May 25, 1906. Originally reachable only by boat, Villa Paranacito built roads in 1937 and added electricity in 1971. Today, the small archipelago combines rustic surroundings with modern technology. Although Villa Paranacito now offers yacht tours, water skiing and commercial fishing, it still maintains its culture of Argentine traditions and simple living. What began as an isolated fishing village has slowly evolved into an attractive tourist destination for the off-the-beaten-path traveler.
