In Buenos Aires’ prime waterfront location, Puerto Madero is slick and modern. The barrio was gentrified during the 1990s, and the huge riverside warehouses were converted into trendy lofts for the wealthy and office buildings. Whilst this neighborhood is a little out of the way in comparison to some of the others, there are some great restaurants, some of which are rather upscale, along with bars, discotheques and cinemas. Currently under construction, a brand new mall called Puerto Madero Shops will be complete in 2007. The promenades alongside the river offer some pleasant walks.
