For comfort in backpacking, the lovely Antico Hostal Boutique is a prize among Buenos Aires hostels; the main problem guests say they have with it is that they don't care to leave. Located in a restored 1900's house, the inside is beautifully furnished and has a cozy, colorful decor, which is a cut above most other hostels in the area. Leather benches and barstools provide a central commons; the adjoiningTV and computer room includes a photography collection and a small crystal chandelier. With high ceilings and tall wooden bunks, rooms are extremely comfortable, and air conditioning makes them a summer haven. The impeccably clean bathrooms are industrial in a charming way. Breakfast is served under a skylight each morning, and the friendly staff is always at reception. If you're looking for a budget bed in San Telmo, consider the Antico as a first stop.
