Named after tango superstar Carlos Gardel, this trendy hostel is well-decorated accordingly, with all manner of colorful memorabilia. At the center of San Telmo, rooms in this 4-story colonial building are bright and well-maintained. All are equipped with lockers, air conditioning and private bathroom. Between the lounge area, sizeable kitchen and large roof terrace, there´s plenty of space for backpackers to socialize. Friendly, knowledgeable reception staff are on hand 24 hours, and a weekly activities board keeps guests entertained. For more independent accommodation, inquire about the hostel-run apartments. Situated just across the street, guests can pop back over to the main building in the morning to take advantage of the free breakfast.
