The people at Belleza y Felicidad set the bar high when they named the place. They have spent the past few years trying, with varying degrees of success, to raise the level of local pop culture. Presented almost more as a concept than an art gallery, the corner building feels homey, hippy and hip all at once. Pop art displays-almost exclusively by young, local artists–hang about, complemented by a bookstore and a selection of music for sale. With a packed schedule of openings, lectures and events, Belleza y Felicidad seems to have something going on all the time. The strong emphasis on literature sets it apart from other galleries, as does the gallery’s open, inviting nature.
