Belgrano – aside from the commercial frenzy of Avenida Cabildo – is a low-key, residential neighborhood. Because it is so residential, there are a decent amount of little cafeterias and parrillas, but not a lot of stand-outs. What Belgrano has that the other neighborhoods don’t have is Chinatown. Along Arribeños, between Juramiento and Avenida Monroe, one can find an assortment of Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean and Thai restaurants to choose from. They range from casual to trendy, and are all open late. Restaurants in this part of town offer a nice (and sometimes necessary) escape from traditional Argentine fare.
Nightlife
When it comes to nightlife, Belgrano is a world of contrasts. In general, your options are pretty limited. As far as bars go, there aren’t many. But, ironically, there are a few large club/discos that are worth checking out including Rumi, one of the swankiest clubs in town. So if you dig a late night drink at a restaurant, then stick to some of the nicer Thai and Japanese places in Chinatown that provide nice cocktail lists. But if you are really in the mood for a glitzy, all-night dance-fest, Belgrano might also have what you’re looking for.
