The corner of Callao and Corrientes - a traditional meeting point for the bohemia, young lovers, and just about anyone interested in the arts - is dominated by the white façade of Zival's. Although Corrientes is lined for blocks with book and music stores, Zival's stands out for its excellent selection and good organization, making it the best place to go to search out the titles on the list an Argentine friend passed on. Zival's is especially strong on Latin American music; a vast selection of tango and Argentine folk is joined by everything from Colombian cumbia to Mexican ranchera. Books are also available, with a good selection of large coffee table titles of photography and art. The staff may not always be the friendliest, but with a computerized database of titles, a rarity in BA, they are able to answer questions quickly and efficiently.
