Out of the Argentine capital’s nearly 50 neighborhoods, you are bound to find one that suits your needs. Centro, or downtown, is the political and financial heart of the city. To the South, Montserrat blends the Centro into the barrios (neighborhoods) where porteño tango culture was born: bohemian San Telmo and working-class La Boca. North of Centro are Retiro, Palermo, with trendy new restaurants and tree-lined streets, and sophisticated Recoleta, with museums and Recoleta Cemetery, Eva Perón’s final resting place.
