Originally built to host boxing during the golden age of Argentine boxing–there is still the occasional fight-Luna Park is now a mid-size, high profile music venue. While blockbuster acts like U2 and The Rolling Stones play massive, impersonal shows in football stadiums, popular bands with a narrower fan base play more enjoyable shows at Luna Park. Recent international visitors include the White Stripes and Franz Ferdinand. Local stars pack the stadium, while legendary visitors from elsewhere in the Spanish-speaking world, such as Mexican rap band Molotov, make yearly visits.
