You've seen him on the $2 peso bill, and the B line of the Subte is named after him, but if you want to learn more about Bartolomé Mitre then spend a while at this museum, inside a grand mansion that was the former President's home between 1860 and 1909. Some of the country's most important books can be found in the house library, as well as pivotal historical documents, some interesting photos, a map collection and a coin collection. The rooms are worth a look too, with Elizabethan furniture and gold-leaf mirrors.
