The Teatro Municipal General San Martín is one of the most reputable theatres in Buenos Aires, and makes up part of the Complejo Teatral. The 13-story Complejo was created by the Porteño government, which continues to run it, and includes four other theatres.

Teatro San Martín has several distinct spaces for stage performance, film and other art expositions, including an enormous photo gallery. It also houses a school for the dramatic arts, with workshops for the technical aspects of theatre such as lighting and set building.
