If it's tango that you are looking for, you'll find it at Salón Canning. This locale is one of the most popular of the Buenos Aires ballrooms and sponsors milonga (tango) dance nights.
Crowds flock to the shiny parquet dance floor (touted as the city's best) of this Palermo Soho disco to try out their moves or watch from the sidelines as other couples show off their steps.
A trio of rotating milongas (US $4 each) take up residence at various hours during the week. They are there Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.; Wednesdays, 4 p.m. to midnight; Thursdays, 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m.; Saturdays, 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.; and Sundays, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Tango classes are offered before each milonga. Call in advance because times and prices often change without notice.
