La Cabrera - Restaurant Buenos Aires - Argentina

Best of the Bife

While reviews of La Cabrera dot the pages of every good guide to Buenos Aires, sometimes a traveler needs just a little extra goading, a second, third or even 50th opinion to be convinced. Its fame among the guidebooks hasn’t robbed this Palermo parrilla of its charm—white tablecloth service in a broken red-brick room, tightly placed tables and old placard ads on the walls—but it has created an upsurge of people, so be sure to arrive early or make (and confirm) a reservation. Beef is the name of the game and the servings are enormous, with generous portions of the finest cuts in the city served on their own cutting boards and accompanied by a slew of creative sides. Huge means huge, so be sure to order accordingly: plates for two will easily serve three or more with beef to boot. The tender ojo de bife (rib-eye) and flavorful bife de chorizo (Argentine steak) are both exquisite, while the milanesa napolitana (breaded tenderloin topped by ham and cheese) comes as a surprise winner at the table. Sit outside on a cool summer evening, order a beer or an Argentine malbec and enjoy beautiful Buenos Aires beef.
