Beautiful inside and out, this grand hotel has eight stories, which includes a spectacularly embellished lobby decked out with marble and glass. There are more than 400 rooms with first-class amenities and large bathrooms where you'll actually want to spend quality time. The various accomodations packages, which start at around $200 and cross the $800 mark (depending on how far in advance you book), are considerably pricier than the U.S. Hilton equivalents. You don't necessarily get what you pay for, because five-star standards in South America are more like 3 1/2 in the U.S. when you factor in staff-guest relations. So you can come here looking for luxury, just don't expect round-the-clock five-star service.
