Restaurants in Recoleta are often pricier than in other parts of the city, though they may or may not merit the extra charge. Nevertheless, the neighborhood hosts plenty of great places to eat, including a number of cafes and all-you-can-eat buffets. For a nicer meal, several high-end restaurants (with plenty of outdoor seating) line the walkways in front of the famous cemetary. Other spots tend to be more spread out. Most places close between 4 and 8 in the afternoon.
Recoleta does have a thriving nightlife, but its bars, dance clubs and other nightspots are somewhat scattered throughout the residential streets. The area in front of the cemetary is often abuzz with well-dressed partygoers, but this zone is also the location of many cabarets and brothels. For a mellower evening, there is a movie theater and several live music clubs. For a crazier scene and a taste of true Argentine nightlife, it’s best to know where you’re going before wandering around.
