Described by some as “small,” the Museo de Armas is surprisingly thorough. Full, but not overwhelming, the museum is home to the largest collection of weapons in South America. You will see more swords, tridents, guns, canons, and grenade launchers than you thought it safe to be around, so choose your company wisely. Wander past suits of armor and toy-sized figurines showcasing the Argentine military uniforms, then into a back room for a rare collection of Japanese weapons and armor. But don’t skip the display dedicated to La Guerra de las Islas Malvinas: this war holds special significance for Argentines, but the name of the islands is a touchy subject. Whatever you do, don’t call them “The Falkland Islands” in a room full of bayonets, lest you upset a local.
