Anyone who has compared Buenos Aires to Paris has probably been to the Palacio Paz. Once the private residence of José C. Paz, founder of the Argentine newspaper La Prensa, this is Buenos Aires’ most opulent and ornate French-style palace. The only way to tour the palace is with a guide, who will cover most of the 12,000 square meters (129,167 sq ft). Marble walls, salons gilded in gold, stained glass ceilings, and mosaic floors will temporarily transport you to Europe, from which most of the materials used to construct the palace originated.
