If you're looking for a five-star meal in the lap of romantic luxury, walk on by. From a design standpoint, Abril is basic and brightly lit with an anonymous cafe-style feel. The menu, however, is hardly lacking in originality: If you've come to Buenos Aires craving Hungarian ghoulash, French ratatouille or Eastern European borsch, you're probably in the minority and this joint is for you. Although the casual, cheery atmosphere makes Abril a better setting for the lunchtime crowd, there's plenty of fine wine on hand for those who want a buzz to go with their bistec. Billed as a "cafe restaurant bar," it's not to be confused with San Telmo's Abril Bistró, which is distinctly more Argentine and unfortunately, now closed. Abril is open Mondays to Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
