This archeology-museum-meets-swanky-event-space is so well-kept it’s hard to believe that portions of the building date back to the mid-1700s. During a guided tour through the mansion-turned-tenement building, you’ll witness many of the original structural elements of a 19th-century home, including beautifully preserved adobe walls, brick arches, glass kitchen tiles, and an open water cistern. The tour takes you through some underground tunnels, which were part of an early underground sewage system, and offers a glimpse into daily life hundreds of years ago. Considered by some historians to be the most important archeological site in Buenos Aires, El Zanjon de Granado is a wonderful and rare glimpse into Buenos Aires’ past.
