In a bold move, a young couple erected this hip hotel/bar/restaurant in the heart of what was then the red-light district of the low-rent Constitución neighborhood. City ordnances have moved most of the streetwalkers out of the area.

The bar and restaurant downstairs is a minimalist affair patterned after a "butcher shop in Berlin." Solid bartenders use a large selection of booze and their imaginations to make creative cocktails. Upstairs there are five rooms, each named after a glacier and lovingly designed. The hotel also has a mini-pool and host of events, including art openings, DJs, VJs and any other event deemed hip enough to enter into Boquitas Pintadas' white interior.

Youkali is again boquitas pintadas

We are so happy that Youkali is again Boquitas Pintadas with its own extraordinary cool charm that we got to know in 2000. The stuff is so nice and they help you with any problem you might have. The breakfast is still so big and offers you any choice. We definitely have seen some amazing art exhibitions inside Boquitas Pintadas. We highly recommend this hotel that shows the tourist a normal life in a normal neighborhood of Buenos Aires, and not only the fashion and rich streets, like Palermo, which you can find all over the world.

For the Offbeat

Loved this unusual place in Dec. 2005 when it was being transformed from Boquitas Pintadas into the arctic white Youkali (and now it is back as Boquitas). An auspicious place to revive yourself after an Antarctic adventure. The host was most gracious to we Aussie gals of an older generation! We had memorable breakfasts, a great bar and rooms with balcony.

A magic place!

This is a magic place! I just stayed one night in the hotel, but that was enough to fall in love with the hotel, Buenos Aires and a man.

Out of Space and Time

Congratulations to this place. We fell in love with the decoration and ambience. This unique place is a dream, completely out of time and space. The team is simply the best. The guy serving breakfast in the bar is remarkable! We will come back soon! Geert Mak
