Balconies with a view are a dime a dozen in BA, but they don't get much better than El Balcón (Spanish for "balcony"). On the first floor of the antique building that's home to El Balcón de la Plaza, there's live rock, jazz and blues daily as well as tango music dinner shows Fridays through Sundays at 9 p.m. The limited menu is nothing to write home about, but eating isn't exactly the point. There are few better places in Buenos Aires to sightsee—whether it's the performers onstage or passersby browsing the souvenirs of Plaza Dorrego below. However, on your way in, avoid making eye contact with the souvenir peddlers as they can be annoyingly aggressive. El Balcón opens early and closes late, but call in advance because the hours aren't set in stone.
