La Puerta Roja - Bar Buenos Aires - Argentina

Walk up to the big red door, knock, and wait. This speakeasy-style system is the only way into one of the most popular bars in town. Once you reach the top of the long staircase, you’ll find yourself in the company of friendly bartenders waiting for you to pick your poison (try a Chili Bomb—chili pepper infused vodka dropped into a drink called Speed—at your own risk!). Under the spotted lights of a disco ball, with a great mix of music, you can chat it up with Argentines, meet fellow travelers, and maybe even get in a game of pool. This is the kind of bar you’ll want to come back to. And in case you were wondering what came first, the red door or the bar name, the answer—according to Lenny, one of the three owners—is: the door. Daily 6 p.m.-late.
