Despite the city's reputation as a meat lover's paradise, dining out in Buenos Aires need not be an artery-clogging experience. Whole grain pizza crusts topped with freshly sautéed veggie goodness, delicious fruit smoothies and other vegetarian-friendly delights make this friendly indoor/outdoor café a rarity in wine heavy, steak-driven San Telmo. Organic meets class in a tasty way that even the most carnivorous will enjoy. Make no mistake, this is healthy, not health, food; you'll satisfy both your appetite and your taste buds. Although the menu is not particularly extensive, non-meat eaters will appreciate the pumpkin ravioli, the Wok-style vegetables with bamboo, tofu and almonds, and the vegetarian stew with lentils, rice, potato and pumpkin. Open daily, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

This place is really cute and provides an exciting menu (considering your typical Jamon y Queso). The coffees are served American Style - HUGE! They come in big deep mugs that look more life soup bowls than coffee cups. I had a sandwich with lox (smoked salmon for all the non-jews), queso crema (more like a dill sauce) with spinach. It was great! My girlfriend had a salad that looked awesome and was loaded with bacon amongst many other yummy toppings (and I think it actually had 'salad dressing' - which if you live here, is a huge luxury). They also gave us complimentary soup in shot glasses to taste which was very cool. Overall it was really great for what it is, a little, nicely priced lunch cafe. It would be a great place to eat on a Saturday or Sunday while at the markets, it's just 2 blocks from the Plaza Dorrego craziness.
