Merlo, at 1,000 meters (3, 281 ft) above sea level and 95 kilometers (59 mi) south of Mina Clavero at the foot of the Comechingones, is a resort town famous for its excellent climate. The town is packed during the high season with tourists taking advantage of the outdoor recreation in the area, like horseback riding, paragliding, hiking and rock climbing.
Accommodations can be a bit on the expensive side. Nice hotels fill up quickly, so be sure to book ahead in the high season; discounts can be negotiated during the low season. Camping is the best bet for budget travelers with a tent. As far as food goes, cafés and pizzerias are easily found, while there are a few decent steakhouses too.
