El Trapiche is a tiny village in the province of San Luis, about 39 kilometers (about 24 miles) from the capital. It contains little more than a few hostels, a small civic center, a chapel and a school. The name refers to an old mill that used to grind minerals and was the center of the village's economy. The village is picturesque, nestled in the sierras and by the Trapiche River, and it is worth heading over from San Luis to wander among its charming early twentieth-century architecture for a few hours.
