The fertile Calamuchita Valley starts 30 kilometers (18.6 mi) south of Córdoba City at the town of Alta Gracia and stretches 100 kilometers (60 mi) south between the Sierra Chica to the east and the Sierra de Comechingones to the west. It has long been a vacation spot where well-to-do Argentine families purchase second homes. Villa General Belgrano and Santa Rosa de Calamuchita are the valley’s two chief towns, with the latter drawing a more youthful crowd during the high season. There is frequent bus service that runs from Córdoba to Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, with stops at towns throughout the route.
