The Punilla Valley
The peaceful Punilla Valley attracts flocks of visitors every year to view the natural beauty of its mountainous surroundings. The area is squeezed between the ridge of the Sierra Chica to the east and the Sierra Grande to the west. RN-38 to La Rioja traverses the valley northward for approximately 100 kilometers (60 mi) from Villa Carlos Paz. The valley’s towns are full of resorts, and the most laidback towns lie farther north. La Falda and Capilla del Monte are charming towns that make excellent bases for hiking or horseback riding excursions. Buses from Córdoba run many times a day to Villa Carlos Paz, up to La Rioja, and all the major towns in the middle.
