Getting To and Away

The quickest and most comfortable way to get to Luján is in the air-conditioned FABE bus from Buenos Aires. The $4 journey takes an hour. Buses depart hourly from the corner of Libertad and Paraguay between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and less frequently on weekends. Passengers must pre-book their seats and confirm departure times by telephone (02323) – 436304. (Same arrangement for return travel.)

Half the price, though more crowded and less direct, is Transportes Atlantida. Their No. 57 bus departs from Plaza Italia hourly from 5:45 a.m. until 8:45 p.m. For those heading to the zoo, the bus stops there as well.

Once in Luján, there’s no excuse not to walk around the town, if able. Nothing is more than a few blocks away. Even the bus terminal is only 3 blocks north of the Basilica.
