When to Go

Malargüe has two distinct tourism seasons: summer (December-February) and winter (June-September). The high elevation spares Malargüe from the bulk of Mendoza’s summer heat, leaving temperatures between 20-25°C (68-77°F), while winter temperatures tend to drop below freezing on a regular basis.

Aside from the provincial Vendimia festival, celebrated in every town throughout Mendoza between January and March, Malargüe is best known for the annual Festival National del Chivo in early January. The main event is a meat lovers dream; 601 chivos are grilled up, asado style.
