Los Penitentes Ski Area

Location:
Route 7, Km 174
Around Mendoza , Mendoza, Argentina

Other Activity

By Brian Hagenbuch

Los Penitentes is a much more down-to-earth ski area than Las Leñas. Far smaller and easier to access, it sits right off Route 7, the international highway that is the main thoroughfare from Mendoza to Santiago. There are slopes for beginners and enough terrain to keep advanced skiers entertained. Also, it’s affordable and close enough to Mendoza that a day-trip does not feel rushed at all. At the base of the hill there are a cluster of buildings that include a hostel, a few hotels, restaurants and bars. Check the website for more information on lodging and availability. For day trips, check any of the numerous ski shops along Avenida Las Heras for prices on packages that include rentals (of everything from boots to hats) and transportation.
