The massive swath of green on the western edge of Mendoza is said to be the largest city park in Argentina. The ornate iron and gilt gate at Avenida Libertador marks the main entrance and from there the avenue angles up toward the towering Andes in the distance. The park itself can be explored for hours, and it’s big enough that renting a bicycle is recommended. The man-made lake Lago del Parque is a hub for locals and surrounded by flowering trees, but don’t stop there. Upon exploration, you’ll find any number of things in park that has over 50,000 trees of 750 species and covers 420 hectares. The best walk is at the far end of the park, a hill called Cerro de la Gloria which takes about 30 minutes to walk up and provides sweeping views.
