Mendoza and its vicinity offer some extremely affordable lodging options, making it a good destination for the frugal backpacker. There are campgrounds all over the region, many which only charge around $1 per person per night. There are also plenty of cheap hostels in the city of Mendoza, a dorm spot in the most basic of them going for under $5 a night. Most city hostels tend to be fairly comfortable, and even have bars, restaurants, and swimming pools. If you wish to upgrade to a hotel with a private room and bath, you should be able to find one for around $20-30 a night. Those seeking extreme luxury will be better off leaving the city, where there are several elegant resort lodges scattered throughout the mountains.
