Hostel

By Brian Hagenbuch

Campo Base is Mendoza’s oldest hostel and an institution on Argentina’s backpacker circuit. Because of this, it can be hectic but the owners and staff are friendly and it’s one of the best places to meet other travelers. It’s also centrally located, just off of Plaza Independencia, and has a vast network around the province of Mendoza and into San Juan, making it a good place to start your travels around the area. The owners also have hostels in Malargue, Los Penitentes, and have affiliated hostels all over the country. The hostel itself can be a bit claustrophobic, but a large back patio provides room to breath.
