Getting To and Away

The majority of visitors arrive and depart Mendoza’s busy bus terminal (Costanera and Acceso Este). Daily services ferry passengers to Buenos Aires (12 hours, $56.50), Bariloche (16 hours, $68), San Juan (3 hours, $8.50), and Santiago de Chile (7 hours, $25.75). Northbound passengers must make connections in Córdoba (8 hours, $42.50). Provincial destinations include San Rafael (3 hours, $5.75), Uspallata (4 hours, $6.50), and Tupungato (2 hour, $5).

The El Plumerillo International Airport is located in Las Heras, 10 km (6 mi) from downtown, Daily flights are available to Buenos Aires (1.5 hours, $170), with Aerolineas Argentinas or Tam Linhas Aereas; to Santiago, Chile (1 hour, $47.50), with LAN or American Airlines; and to Córdoba (1 hour, $80), with Aerolineas Argentinas.

In January, 2010, after a 14-year absence, the first train arrived at Mendoza’s Central Station (Belgrano and Las Heras) from the Retiro train station in Buenos Aires. The passenger service is currently offered bi-weekly (12 hours, $15), and more frequent services are planned for the near future.
