V!VA User‘s Description

You've probably heard that Argentina is famous for its tender, juicy cuts of beef, but what you might not know, is that when it comes to food, Argentines love their buffets. And these buffets are not simply a few dishes thrown out for the taking. These are gourmet meals delicately prepared to satisfy carnivores and vegetarians alike.

Caro Pepe, is the premiere buffet bistro in Mendoza. Nestled between Chile Street and Mendoza's bustling avenue Las Heras, the restaurant is a locals favorite. With a wine bar list that suits any palate, and waiters that are as hospitable as it gets, it's a true Argentine experience.

A large open space with minimal décor, Caro Pepe boasts a barbeque pit that grills up an array of marinated and smoked beef, chicken, ham - and do not forget the blood sausage. All chef-carved to your liking, the meats could be enough to fill you. But as you leave the BBQ station, it would take a lot of will power to pass over the two large buffet islands in front of you, which include everything from Spanish fish paella to gourmet quiches, special chicken dishes to vegetable curries, and a complete salad bar to boot.

And before you fill up on the dessert, you might want to mosey on over to the cooks station where you can choose your own pasta and sauces and have the chef cook it up before your eyes.

But you're not quite done yet, a third buffet island includes fresh fruit salads and a variety of desserts including rich chocolate mouse, gelatin and cakes. If your pants still fit after eating all that, you might want to try and squeeze in a make-your-own crepe where you can choose between a chocolate or apple crepe topped with chocolate sauce, whisky, or caramel, and if you can manage it, try it alamode. Hours: Open for lunch and dinner. Cost: 16 pesos for all-u-can-eat. Prices does not include beverages.
