The cathedral dominates the northeastern corner of the Plaza General San Martin and is an attractive if not stunning representation of neo-roman architecture. Inaugurated in 1952, it was declared the cathedral of the San Rafael diocese in 1961. The building extends back from along Carlos Pellegrini where the most attractive part of the building includes a large red dome. Mass is still held every Sunday.
