When to Go

San Rafael sits in southern Mendoza, so temperatures tend to fluctuate more between summer (December-February) and winter (June-September). The town proximity to the Rio Atuel and several lakes, including Los Reyunos and El Nihuil, make it an ideal summer destination when swimming, waterskiing, and rafting are popular.

High summer temperatures, ranging between 30-35°C (86-95°F), give way to a beautiful autumn (March-May) with temperatures between 15-20°C (59-77°F). This is the ideal time for trout fishing in the nearby lakes and rivers, and it also coincides with the annual wine harvest. Winter (June-August) brings colder temperatures and few new activities.
