El Restauro’s attractive yellow and cream façade is on the corner of the pleasant Plaza San Martin diagonal from the cathedral. A large, slickly designed dining room sets the stage for San Rafael’s best gastronomical experience. Regional ingredients like salted ham, goat cheese dominate the starters, and there are numerous dishes from the area, but there is also chop suey, paella, and salmon. Auspiciously, the town’s top chef school is on the second floor of the building. Monday - Sunday, noon - 4 p.m., 7 p.m. - close.
