Romancing The Stones - Other Activity Puerto Iguazú - Argentina

While in the jungle, you might yearn to plunge into its emerald vastness and go romancing the stones. You won’t need a treasure map or face kidnappers to have this adventure. You can seek such dreams in Wanda, a quiet village one hour from Puerto Iguazú. Here the earth glitters with rock crystals, colored quartzes, amethyst, topaz and agates.

The open pits and tunnels where these semi-precious gems are mined may be explored. A wondrous sight are the giant basalt geodes encrusted with vari-colored quartz crystals. At Compañía Minera Wanda, multi-lingual guides lead visitors through these worlds, and to see how the rough stones become glittering jewels that royalty around the world collect (Winter: 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; summer: 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Ruta 12, Km 1593.
