Puerto Iguazú’s bus terminal is divided into two sections (Av Córdoba and Av Misiones, Tel: 42-3006). The front part, facing Avenida Córdoba, has long-distance bus company ticket windows and several booking agencies. The back platform is where more tour agencies are, and where transport to the Falls and Paraguay depart. The handicap-accessible terminal has a restaurant, snack stands, shops, bathrooms, police post, luggage keep (daily 7 a.m.-9 p.m. local 39. Knapsacks $1-1.50, depending on size). The 24-hour taxi stand in front posts its prices.

Ticket prices rise in the high season. Because of great demand, reserve at least one day in advance. Noelia, Roa and other agencies sell tickets for several companies.

To Parque Nacional Iguazú (Cataratas): El Práctico (half-hourly 7:10 a.m.-7:40 p.m., last return from falls 8:15 p.m.; $1.45)

To Posadas: hourly, 5.5-6 hours, $13—Horianski, A. Del Valle, Kruse, El Dorado and others. Pass by Montecarlo, San Ignacio and other towns.

To El Soberbio: Sol del Norte to San Vicente (8 a.m., 4 hr, $9) and transfer from there.

To Oberá: Sol del Norte (8 a.m., 6-8 hr, $11)

To Corrientes / Resistencia: 10 / 11 hours—Crucero del Norte 10:30 a.m., $30-39 / $32-41), Singer (8 p.m., $27 / $30), Río Uruguay (3 busses 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., $29-32 / $32-39), Flecha (10:45 a.m., $34-40 / $36-41), Andesmar (9 p.m., $33-40 / $36-41)

To Salta: Flecha (11 a.m., $70-77, 23 hours). Or go first to Posadas.

To Concordia: most busses drop passengers off at the entry to town, 12-14 hours—Crucero del Norte (1 p.m., $44), Singer (4 departures 1-5:45 p.m., $46-51), Andesmar (enters terminal; 2:15 p.m., $45-52)

To Rosario: 18-20 hours; most companies offer only semi-cama service—Crucero del Norte (3:30 p.m., $65), Singer (2:45 p.m., $73), Río Uruguay (3 busses 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., $63-77). Also Kurtz.

To Buenos Aires: most busses leave 2-7:30 p.m. and arrive at Retiro, 17 hours—Singer ($65-74), Río Uruguay ($73-92), Flecha ($65-77), Rápido Argentino ($65-77), Crucero del Norte (8 busses 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m., $65-76), Vía Bariloche (3 semi-cama busses 11:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m., $65; 4 cama ejecutivo busses 2:15-7:15 p.m., $81) and other companies.

To Córdoba: 20-22 hours—Crucero del Norte (10:30 a.m., $73-82), Singer (1:15 p.m., 4 p.m., $85-89), Plusultra Mercosur (12:45 p.m., $79)

To Mendoza: Andesmar (9 p.m., $127-152, 36 hr). It is cheaper and faster to go first to Córdoba.

To Ciudad del Este, Paraguay: Monday-Saturday 7:10 a.m.-5:45 p.m., every 30-40 minutes, $1.40. Busses depart from Andén 9; pay driver—El Práctico, Rysa, Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.

For Asunción and other cities, go first to Ciudad del Este.

To Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil: half-hourly 7 a.m.-7 p.m., $1.40, from Andén 9

To Curitiba: Crucero del Norte (3 a.m., 11 hr, $66)

To São Paolo / Rio de Janeiro: Crucero del Norte (1:15 p.m., 17 / 23 hr, $83 / $100

R.O.A. Tours (local 12, Tel: 42-3400) sells Pluma bus tickets, departing from Foz do Iguaçu, for São Paolo (4 semi-cama busses 2:30-7:30 p.m., $94; cama 6 p.m. $157; 14-15.5 hr), Rio de Janeiro (noon, 6:45 p.m., 12 hr, $130-132) and Florianopolis (5:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 15 hr, $81-166)

Aeropuerto Internacional Cataratas del Iguazú is off Ruta Nacional 101, 19 kilometers (12 mi) from Puerto Iguazú (Tel: 42-0595)

Aerolíneas Argentinas (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-noon, 3-7 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Av V Aguirre 295, Tel: 0810-2228-6527)—to Buenos Aires (4 daily Monday-Wednesday, 5-6 daily Thursday-Sunday, $172 one way, including all taxes).

Andes (Monday-Saturday 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 4-8:30 p.m. Av V Aguirre 279, Tel: 42-5566, E-mail: andes@dosati.com, URL: www.andesonline.com)—Salta / Jujuy / Córdoba (Monday, Friday, $138 any destination, includes all taxes).

Boat

Balsa Iguazú departs from Puerto Iguazú for Puerto Tres Fronteras (a.ka. Puerto Bertoni), Paraguay (Monday-Friday hourly 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.Passenger $1.40, motocycle $3.50, car $5, luggage up to 50 kg / 110 lb $0.25). Immigration procedures are done in both ports.
