When to Go

Puerto Iguazú enjoys a sub-tropical climate with no dry season. Summer months can be very hot and humid, with temperatures averaging 33ºC (92ºF). Winter (March-June) is milder, with 20ºC (68ºF) temperatures. Vacationing Argentines pack the hotels during the high season: December-February, Semana Santa (Easter week) and July. Hotel prices increase and reservations are a must. Because of the high demand, bus tickets should be bought several days in advance.

Not everything in Puerto Iguazú is focused on the waterfalls, though. The town hosts several yearly festivals. In mid-February is the Festival de la Trova Misionera folk music festival. July is time for the Festival Música Sin Fronteras international music fest. December 15 rolls in with a concert and huge fireworks display at Anfiteatro Ramón Ayala (Avenida Costanera, between Hito Tres Fronters and the port).

Currently enjoying exploring South America with my boyfriend and explaining to every bus driver we meet why we only have one bike...
