E.M.TUR.I (Ente Municipal de Turismo) has an office on the ground floor of the bus terminal (daily 8 a.m.-6 p.m.) and downtown (8 a.m.-6 p.m. Av. V. Aguirre and Brañas, Tel: 54-3757-422-938 / 54-3757-422-763, E-mail:, URL: E.M.TUR.I has an excellent map and list of services.

The more prominent Misiones Province office supplies information on the national park, Puerto Iguazú and other regional attractions. Staff speak English, Spanish and Portuguese (Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-1 p.m., 2-9 p.m.; weekends, holidays 8 a.m.-noon, 4-8 p.m. Av. V. Aguirre 311, Tel: 54-3757-420-800).

Other offices of interest are: Parque Nacional Iguazú administration (Av. V. Aguirre 66, Tel: 54-3757-420-722 / 54-3757-423-252), tourism police (Aguirre 250, Tel: 54-3757-425-065), Gendarmería Nacional (Aguirre 250, Tel: 54-3757-420-629) and Migraciones (immigration) (Puente Internacional Tancredo Neves, Tel: 54-3757-422-795).

The Paraguayan consulate does not issue visas (Av. Córdoba 370, Tel: 54-3757-424-230). This is done in Posadas. The Brazilian consulate can issue visas the same day. Submit one photo, form, passport and fee (in Argentine pesos only: Australia 147 pesos, Canada 273 pesos, Japan 210 pesos, U.S. 546 pesos) by 10 a.m.; pick up in afternoon (Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Av. Córdoba and Mensú, Tel: 54-3757-421-348). Other countries have consulates in Posadas and Oberá.


Puerto Iguazú’s banks are open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Both have ATMs.

Both entities also have ATMs in the national park.

Casas de cambio offer longer hours and exchange U.S. dollars, euros, pound sterling, yen and many South American currencies.

  • Libres Cambios is at the Centro de Frontera, near Argentine immigration (Tel: 54-3757-421-566 / 54-3757-422-354).


Instead of E-mailing family and friends from Iguazú, drop them an old-fashioned postcard at the Correos (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 5-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-noon. Av. San Martín s/n, block west of Av. Brasil). Many businesses in the city center have telecabinas telefónicas for local, national and international phone calls. Internet cafés are a bit scarcer. Internet Yguazú has good computers with Skype ($0.80 per hour) and phone booths—and rents bikes (Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-11 p.m., weekends noon-11 p.m. Av. V. Aguirre and Ushuaia).


Hospital SAMIC is the public health facility (Av. V. Aguirre, between Ushuaia and Scwartz, Tel: 54-3757-420-288). Most pharmacies are on Avenida Aguirre. Macrofarma at the bus terminal has free delivery (Av. Córdobe and Misiones, Tel: 54-3757-421-334 / 54-3757-423-790).


Reliable laundries include Lavadería Central (Monday-Saturday 8:30 a.m.-noon, 1:30-8 p.m. Perito Moreno 209. Wash and dry $7 per basket) and Lavandería Iguazú (daily 8 a.m.-noon, 2-8 p.m. Av. Guaraní and Esquiú. Wash and dry $6 for up to a dozen pieces).


Rolando has digital camera cards, 35 mm film and other necessities, and film developing (Av. V. Aguirre 237, Tel: 54-3757-420-783). Also many drugstores and other shops carry analog film. No one in town repairs cameras.
