Many shops in Puerto Iguazú are closed noon-5 p.m.
All along Avenida Victoria Aguirre and Avenida Brasil are lots of stores selling T-shirts, souvenirs, semi-precious jewels from the Wanda mines, fine leatherwear and everything related to yerba mate. Guaranà baskets, wood carvings and other crafts are also for sale. Next to Hito Tres Fronteras is an artisan market. A bit bizarre to see in this tropical climate is the hand-woven alpaca, sheep and other wool clothing created by Bientejidos—though it will help you get prepared for Salta’s chillier climate (Av. Misiones and Bompland, Tel: 54-3757-424-459, E-mail: bientejidos@yahoo.com.ar / bientejidos@gmail.com, URL: www.bientejidos.paisdeartesanos.com.ar).
Tao Café Literario has some books in English and other languages. It also hosts literary events (Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-noon, 4:30-9 p.m. Av. Misiones 113. Tel: 54-3757-425-590, E-mail: taocafeliterario@hotmail.com).
Bull Dog Fly has everything you need for camping (including fuel), fishing and other outdoor activities. It also cleans and repairs Swiss Army knives (Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m., 5-9 p.m. Av. Misiones 127. Tel: 54-3757-422-652, E-mail: bulldogfly@bulldogfly.com.ar, URL: www.bulldogfly.com.ar).
