The branch at the bus terminal is handy for anyone arriving by colectivo (daily 9a.m.-8 p.m. Tel.: 45-6106). Also downtown is the Misiones Province tourism office which amicably helps visitors navigate to the many interesting destinations in this region (daily 8a.m.-1 p.m., 4-8 p.m. ColĂłn 1985, Tel.: 44-7539, E-mail: turismo@misiones.gov.ar, URL: www.turismo.misiones.gov.ar).

Money

Banks and ATM’s are completely prevalent downtown. Hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-1 p.m. All have ATMs with cajeros located all over the city. Some banks are:

—Banco de la NaciĂłn (BolĂvar and FĂ©lix de Azara) – also exchanges US dollars; Western Union agent

—Banco FrancĂ©s / BBVA (ColĂłn 1650)

—Citibank (San Martín and Colón) – also exchanges US dollars, Euros; exchanges and sells travelers checks (in US dollars, Euros) (American Express, Citicorp)

—HSBC(FĂ©lix de Azara and BolĂvar) – ATM also dispenses US dollars; exchanges cash only for Premier customers; exchanges travelers checks for everybody

—Santander RĂo (FĂ©lix de Azara 1853)

Casa de Cambio Mazza exchanges US dollars, Euros and other major Western currencies, as well as regional moneys, and American Express, Thomas Cook and MasterCard travelers checks in US dollars, Euros and Swiss Francs (lower rates). It is also a MoneyGram agent (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-1 p.m., 3:30-6:30 p.m., Saturday 9a.m.-noon. BolĂvar 1932). At the Puente Internacional is Libres Cambio.

Communications

The post office is located at BolĂvar and Ayacucho (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-noon). Telecom cabinas telefĂłnicas are quite common. Internet, on the other hand, is quite a rare beast and Skype even scarcer. At Plaza 9 de Julio is Ola with both internet ($1.15 per hour) and phone (ColĂłn 1778). Cheaper yet, at $0.60 per hour, are Cyberfun (San Lorenzo 2268) and El Cyber Templo, which has Skype and is open 24 hours (BolĂvar 2145).

Medical

Hospital Doctor RamĂłn Madriaga is a bit far from downtown (Avenida LĂłpez Torres 1177, Tel.: 44-7000 / -7775). Pharmacies are located throughout the city. Most are closed on Sunday. A centrally located one that is open 24 hours is Farmacia Argentina (San Lorenzo and BolĂvar, Tel.: 42-0202).

Laundry

Laundromats are located all over town. Check out LavanderĂa Alexis (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-7:L30 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Rivadavia 1921, Tel.: 152-87-399. $3 per basket) or LavanderĂa DENS (Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-1 p.m., 4-8:30 p.m., Saturday 8a.m.-7 p.m. Ayacucho 273. $4.25 per basket). Both have same-day service, if you drop it off in the morning.

Camera

Rolando has a good stock of analog film and digital camera accessories, as well as film processing (BolĂvar 1902). Several other camera shops are located on the same street. Servicio TĂ©cnico Carlos Chaplin is a much-recommended camera repair shop (Ayacucho 2346, local 8, Tel.: 37-2029). Camera businesses can recommend others.
