Things to Do in Resistencia

Resistencia is putting a lot of effort into becoming a more tourist-friendly city. The Bienal Sculpture festival is definitely the most significant event, but the city is quickly accumulating new museums, parks, restaurants and nightlife. The development of the ¨Costenera¨ along the river and upgrading of Parque 2 de Febrero are examples of the city's efforts.

Even if you are not in town for the famous Sculpture festival at the end of July, the entire city is really an open-air exhibit of sculpture and art from across the world and across all genres. A map of the major sculptures can be found in the tourist office with a bit of information on the sculptors and the pieces' significance. A stroll through town to check out the museums, sights and art is highly recommended.

Parque 2 de Febrero is a leafy, open public space with plenty of facilities for all kinds of recreation. If you are feeling like a BBQ, buy some meat and beers and join the locals cooking up carnivorous feasts. If you are lucky, you might even be able to get some local Argentine cooking tips about how to make the best "Asado." After some food and relaxation, the park also offers a public pool for a dip and plenty of space to play some volleyball or kick around the old fútbol.

Resistencia's nightlife is becoming more established with every passing party. If you are in town for the weekend, make sure to check it out, as locals as well as fun-seekers from neighboring towns swarm in to get a piece of the action. The most popular spots are located out of town, near Ruta Nicolas Avellaneda, which is the road that heads towards Corrientes.
