Getting To and Away

 

Colón is two kilometers (1.2 mi) east of Ruta Nacional 14, 320 kilometers (199 mi) north of Buenos Aires and 295 kilometers (183 mi) east of the provincial capital, Paraná.

 

Bus

The Terminal de Ómnibus is about 10 blocks from the main plaza. Services include shops, bathrooms and tourism information booth (Paysandú and Sourigues, Tel: 42-1716).

 

Note: Many long-distance busses let passengers off at the west access to town in the middle of the night. No taxis are waiting. It is best to get a bus that enters Colón’s terminal.

 

To San José: frequent, 10 min, $2—Rápido San José,Río Uruguay, Otero, Jovi and others

To Villa Elisa: 10 busses daily, 0.5 hr, $2.25—Las Colonias, El Directo, others. Only some go to the hot springs ($3). From Villa Elisa, a train runs weekends north to Arroyo Barú and south to Caseros.

 

To Concordia: frequent, 2 hr, $5-6—San José, Jovi, Flecha, Río Uruguay

To Mercedes (for Esteros del Iberá): Rápido San José (10:15 a.m., 7 hr, $17)

To Corrientes: San José (5:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10 hr, $29)

 

To Concepción: frequent, 1 hr, $2-3—San José, Flecha, Río Uruguay, Jovi

To Gualeguaychú: frequent, 2 hr, $5.50-6.50—San José, Flecha, Río Uruguay, Jovi (1:15 a.m. service continues to Victoria)

To Rosario: 5 hr, $16—San José (6:15 a.m., 2 p.m.), Río Uruguay (Monday-Friday 9 a.m., daily 1:15 .m.)

To Buenos Aires: 5 hr, $21-24—San José (7 busses, mostly afternoon), Flecha (8 busses)

To Córdoba: Flecha / Zenit (transfer in Paraná; 7:15 p.m., 10.5 hr, $42), San José (Monday, Friday 8:45 a.m., 8 hr, $35)

 

Also busses to Paraná (Flecha, San José, $13), Santa Fe (Flecha, San José, $14).

 

To Paysandú, Uruguay: Copay / Río Uruguay (Monday-Saturday 12:15 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday-Saturday 12:45 a.m.; Saturday, Sunday 8:45 a.m., $3)
