While in Caleta Olivia, be sure to get an inside look at petroleum workers’ live by visiting Barrios Parque and 26 de Julio within the city, or take an excursion out to the one at Cañadón Seco. Caleta Olivia isn’t just about oil. It also offers some R & R for travelers who find themselves having to stop here. The Centro Cultural serves up human and puppet theater, movies and concerts. Many kilometers of beaches give visitors a chance to birdwatch and practice wind and surf sports. For something different, go bowling at the Complejo Deportivo Municipal (daily 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Av.Costanera and M Moreno, Tel: 485-2879. $0.80 per game; also has shoe rental).
