Reserva Provincial Natural Isla Pingüino - Other Activity Puerto Deseado - Argentina

At the mouth of the Río Deseado, some 11 nautical miles from Puerto Deseado, is Isla Pingüino, the main raison d’être of Reserva Provincial Natural Isla Pingüino. On this small island is Patagonia’s only colony of Pingüino de Penacho Amarillo (around 300 couples nest here). The penguins are distinguished by their orange beaks and a tuft of bright yellow feathers over their red eyes, and are a bit shorter than its cousin the Magellanic Penguin. The reserve includes Rockhoppers’ Island, Isla Chata and other islets in Bahía Oso Marino along the coast. Here you'll find sea lions, nesting colonies of cormorants, and a whole menagerie of other marine birds.
