Scuba Diving - Diving Puerto Madryn - Argentina

Puerto Madryn well earns its nickname, National Scub Diving Capital. All year long, tourists can explore Golfo Nuevo’s underwater world. The six dive shops in the city offer all levels of dives. The bautismo submarino with a guide, to allow the un-initiated to experience that realm. For the more experienced there is diving with lobo marinos (sea lions), night dives and expeditions to reefs and the seven shipwrecks that lie in the gulf’s depths. Scuba diving courses leading to Padi or Dive Master certification are also taught. Puerto Madryn has some special places to dive, like Parque Piedras Grandes and Parque Las Piedras.

Travel Tips:

The official prices of classes and excursions are posted at the tourism office. There are another four dive shops out at Puerto Pirámides. Diving with the sea lions is only for those who are already certified.

If you are already certified, be sure to bring your certificate.

Stroll through Puerto Madryn’s museums. Visit the animals at Península Valdés, Punta Loma, El Doradillo and Las Ninfas nature reserves. Go kayaking or windsurfing.
